    My 1851

I don't think you could reload fast enough to cause a heating problem for the brass frame. If you like the looks of it shoot it.
I too have an 1851 Confederate Navy. I've had it for about 6 years and have shot 100's of round ball through it. Not had any problems with it. I use 21 grains of powder. It's deadly accurate. It shoots the center out of the target. You will love that gun and I highly recommend you start shooting it. Get some Muzzle Magic foam to clean it. Use water to rinse it off. Spray it down with gun oil after you dry it. These guns from Pietta are of very high quality. You'll never wear it out if you take care of it. Get some Brasso to shine up the brass. You have to clean it right after you shoot it. The black powder is corrosive. Use FFFg black powder and number 10 caps.
