SAR guns

[SVT-40]

Got these guns at the SAR show this last weekend... The Ithaca M-37 Deer Slayer Police Special is obviously not a C&R (made in 1981) but a neat ex-PD gun. I guess it was a SKS show for me. A unissued Yugo 59/66 still in the grease (made in 1984), and a six digit Chinese SKS (made in 1956) which is all matching down to the gas tube and piston... Perfect un-marked bolt face and bore too....One of the Century imports which spent time in Vietnam and Albania before being imported into the US...

The Yugo's were never in "wrappers" when they were imported. They were in wooden crates as in the pic below. Ten rifles per crate. They came with slings, pouches, cleaning gear and oilers as well as a book serialized to the individual rifle...

Yeah the stocks can be really beautiful. The vendor who sold the rifle to me had two others. I picked the one which I thought was the nicest stock.. I have two other rifles in similar condition which I bought years ago..Couldn't pass up one more for $300 OTD.

Awesome stuff. I had a blast at that show as I had a vendor pass and spent all day Thursday and Friday there. Funny thing is, I did not find one gun I was looking for. Oh well, still nice to visit a good show in free America.

Yup... A early Laser Products weapons Light... Pretty "clunky" compared to todays lights.....

But it still works!!!!

Some fairly hard to find (apparently) revolvers. S&W 547, 610-1, 686-5 in good condition, and 646. I had a FFL buddy there who would have bought them, let me convert them to single action, then shipped them to my CA FFL. I almost fell for a M1 carbine that was un-sanded, and un restored, but the surface rust due to crappy storage kept me away. Could have replaced a couple of the rusty small parts and had a real nice early high wood that would have cleaned up real nice. I forget the maker at the moment, but it was one of the less common ones. Quality Hardware is sticking in my mind, but I looked at so many carbines that they all became a blur. Next year I swear I am going to Tulsa. If you cant find it there...

I sold a 3" 547 NIB about 3 months ago to another collector buddy......I bought it when I had my 01 FFL years ago....

I'll keep my eyes open for the others.. The 686 should be relative easy to find....

The 547 is not really on my front burner. You would think that a 4" 686 dash 4 or dash 5 would be easy. My FFL buddy brought the only one that was at the show for me, but it was pretty abused. He wound up selling it for more, so he was not too mad that I did not buy it. I think it had been re-barreled, and the second barrel was damn near shot out. One of these days I am just going to move to AZ and all my gun problems will be over except how to pay for all my new toys. When I was in AZ a few months ago, there was a mint 686-5 on backpage for $650 about 2 miles from where I was staying, but my FFL buddy was out of town.
