I assume you are asking about the nickle plated P-38? Yep, bottom shelf left side in the display case on the righthand side before you entered the "Gun Library". I had seen it mentioned here, saw it a few weeks later and it wasn't there 2 weeks ago when I made a Cabelas visit.

That smoothbore "line Throwing Rifle" has been in the rack outside the gun room close to a year or more. I often wondered if it's "so rare" why isn't it in the Gun Library with the $1400 Garands and such?

Only line shouldered throwing guns I've seen are the 45-70 smooth bores that were being sold back in the late 1980's early 1990's.

The one at Cabelas has full unaltered stock, not like the one in the link shown in the link above. Read the description of the Line Throwing specification alterations included in the informative link above. Maybe THAT's why it isn't in with the high price guns, it might be fake certainly doesn't match specs? It certainly doesn't match the description in the link above other than missing the front and rear sights and being a smooth bore, makes ya wonder.

Yeah, I posted a photo in the '..make you cry" thread. Not only Nickel, but with the front sight cut off, and threaded for a can.

I actually spent some time researching if it was repairable, if I could get it for a low enough price, but they were were wanting WAY too much for it.

Agree on the line thrower, something just ain't right about it, and they have had it for sale for a long time. It wasn't always in the racks outside, for a long time it was in the glass case just inside the library to the right, where the higher end Milsurps are usually found.

I knew somebody had posted a photo but couldn't remember who. After you posted that photo on my next trip there it wasn't on display I thought it musta been a hot selling item and was gone, a week or so later is when to my surprise I saw it on that bottom shelf. Wasn't the price $599 or something like that?

After reading the info in the link about the line throwing rifles is when it hit me there is something not kosher with that rifle, otherwise a collector woulda snagged it along time ago OR maybe somebody just wanted a 30cal shotgun like the old 22 Gallery Guns.

what to do, what to do?
Happy to report that they're getting this ironed out. I suppose it's a learning opportunity for all the firearms department there. Kerri, from that department, was very helpful and says she will ship it to me at no extra cost!!! YAY!

guess I should have gone on a weekday.... So at least Boise Cabela's is ok for C&Rs. I just got to be the one providing the training.

Every time I buy a C&R at the Reno Cabela's they make me go through the background check on the computer even though I bring them a copy of my C&R license! They waive the $25 fee, but it still pisses me off every time, as I waste 20 minutes of my time! They should just take an extra $25 off the gun!

Only bought one since I became a NV resident, and they did not make me do the background check. The gun library guy led me to it, but one of the customer service people overheard me ask him "Why do I have to do this if I have an FFL?" The manager at the desk straightened him out. There is a form they use for FFL to FFL transfers, and she had him do it. Still took a while, but only because the guy helping me wasn't familiar with the process.

Forgive me C&R fathers for I have sinned. I saw something else on my way to Reno but didn't want to advertise so I could go back for it...

That's good to know as when I was last there they looked at me as if I was crazy when asked about 03 FFLs. haven't seen much of the good stuff there my last few visits though. I will continue to stop when in the area.

Never had them do a background check but they never are in any kind of a hurry. Last time it was the same guy as the time before but still had to be told by the manager that it was ok and how to do it. Always plan on at least an hour from saying ill take it to the front door.

Has anyone seen any Nagant revolvers at Cabella's recently? I have been told they they get them in from time to time, but they didn't have any in stock last time I was in there.
