    Cabellas Reno C&R update

I stopped at Cabellas outside Reno to check out their C&R goodies.
    Approximate inventory:
    20 - Mosin-Nagant 91/30 @$129 each. I saw 1 Tula 1935 Hex, the bore looked well worn.
    2 - Arisakas @$350-400
    2 - Swedish Mausers @ $350
1 - Schmidt Rubin in .308 drilled and tapped

    And my current desire:
1 - 1903-A3 @$699. 3.4 mil serial, Remington. Bore is well worn and missing rear sight. :-(

I bet that the 1903A3 is a Navy line shooter with a smooth bore. I looked at that one last time I was there. It was a nice looking 1903. I just don't know what I would need it for.

Will Cabelas sell you a C&R gun cash and carry if you have FFL 03?

I'm seriously having trouble convincing them of this. Went to the Boise Cabelas a week ago and tried to get a Tula hex, but the folks there must not deal with 03s much. Still hoping they'll ship it to me.

what to do, what to do?

Scheels had a nice 1903a3 for 699 last year and theyre hip to c&R xfers. They almost always have garands in various condition too, but they ask too much for them IMO.

They still have a 1903, but for more than I wanted to pay. I guess I expected more c&rs for my first visit to Scheels.
Didn't make it to Reno Cabelas this trip. Anyone know if they still have old pump 22s? Last time I was there it seems like there were several.

That smooth bore has been there almost if not a year.
They did sell the nickleplated P-38 though at least I haven't seen it the past month or so in my several visits.

Did they ever have it on display? The only reason I saw it was one of the gun library guys and I were talking about horrible Bubba jobs, when I was in there one quiet evening. It was a "you have to see this thing......"

I also stopped at Bizarre Guns in Reno. They had a few Mosins, an Enfield, a Mauser and... a Smith Corona 1903-A3. Looked pretty clean, priced $899. I couldn't bring myself to spend that much.

                            "Line Throwing Barrel"???
I've seen and heard of Naval small bore mortar/cannon line throwers, but the only cartridge type I've seen, was in 45/70, and they look like a harpoon gun. Anyone have any references to this '03 line thrower?

It is an odd ball, but they do exist.
