what C&R Profile fits you most

    1. collector that rarely shoots them. and small details of collectably are more important than condition.
    2. a collector that shooting each rifle at least once in a while is important
    3. a shooter that accuracy is the most important part of gun ownership. And is not to much interested in rarity.
4.a modest collector that is mostly interested in a few rifles that he shoots all the time.
    5. somebody that likes C&R rifles but is not interested in details like what company made the least of a certain gun or if all the parts are original to that gun.
    6. somebody that concentrates on one or two types and has or wants every variant of that gun.
    7. somebody that is not interested in more than one example of a certain rifle but wants one of everything.

I probably fit - 1. collector that rarely shoots them. and small details of collectably are more important than condition. 7. somebody that is not interested in more than one example of a certain rifle but wants one of everything.
I love the history of my rifles as well as the specific history about the individual rifle I own. My only mossin is a plain jane round reciever Izzy made in 1943 and has rough tooling marks on the reciever. Not gonna get a real mossin collector to excited but I like having a rifle that reflects the hurried conditions that it was made under. My 1959' Chi-com SKS reflects political relations between USSR/China until they unravelled, (also the Albanian connection as evidenced by the 2 hole butt plate?). 1959' H&R Garand, because my dad used one about the same year while stationed in Germany. My 1973 Tula AK, height of the cold war and my grade school memories of growing up in the tense nuclear age. My Russian Makarov is a civilian .380 version but I put East German grips on it and it lives in an East German holster, just to give it some cold war personality. I shoot everything I have once in a while just to make sure it all is in working order and that I can reasonably hit what Im shooting at if the need arrises. C&R guns are much more about owning history for me than burning through ammo. I am also strongly considering one more C&R purchase as an 03/FFL before the first of the year. Too those of you who do burn through ammo in your C&R's, keep up the good work .

I am probably in category 5. I have an m1 30 carbine and a winchester 54 30-06 that are definitely C&R. The win 94 30-30 is newer, maybe from 1973, and my dad has a couple old firearms that might be C&R- a remington sportster 22lr bolt action tube fed and a high standard 22lr semi auto pistol.

The 54 was the gun that my dad's dad used to deer hunt. It has a little medallion on the bottom of the buttstock with his initials. I was named after him, but he passed away before I was born. I think it is a cool old rifle and it seems plenty accurate for my skill level. The 30 carbine is/was my mom's dad's rifle, along with the 30-30. He doesn't shoot anymore and I convinced him to let me use them. He said he was going to leave them to me and a few others to my brother.

I like the old rifles, but I shoot a lot of newer guns. I am a plinker and competition shooter who happens to have some old guns as well. I would like more, if they get my attention (maybe an M1 Garand) but I am not actively searching for more, and money is tight right now. One copy of a design is probably good for me. Accuracy is nice, but I like to shoot steel plates at up to 230 yards, so that isn't extremely demanding. I have guns to shoot, not to just look pretty and not get used. I also reload all of my centerfire pistol and rifle ammo. It is fun to cast boolits and load up ammo with vintage powder that I have so I can shoot it through an old gun, pretty much like shooters from 50-100 years ago, but I just have some modern equipment to do it.

My customized XD pistol and AR 15 3 gun rifle sit nicely next to the C&R's and the Smith 460 xvr revolver. I run a Benelli Super Sport with a 28-30" barrel for 3 gun. It is my skeet gun, and it is what I have for now, so it gets used. I hate for my guns to get beat up, so I am anal about their looks, but no safe queens for me.

        I'm prob a #2 (that just doesn't sound right)
"collector that shooting each rifle at least once in a while is important"

Saddly I don't get to the range nearly enough and some of my guns I don't shoot nearly enough (for various reasons, cost of ammo/kicks my butt)

Yes, cost of ammo, range fees and gas all add up to me being more of a historian than a high volume shooter... unfortunately

            I'm leaning toward #4;

4.a modest collector that is mostly interested in a few rifles that he shoots all the time.

            Yep, that sounds about right.

Not sure where I'd fit. There 4 things that are important to me and my son. 1 all our guns are military, most are C+R. 2 we want them to be as original as possible. 3 we shoot as many of them as we can, 4 we want as many different guns as we can afford.
Our collection ranges from an 1863 Springfield to an M4. Our newer rifles, AKs, M16s are built on semiauto receivers, so not as original as we'd like.
              Because milsurp.

4 & 5 fit me. i like to shoot them then go home and clean them.but i am not so interested in accuracy with my 66 year old eyes. looks and function are more important than who made it [ tula--Ishvesk ]. a refurbished mix master is just as good as a all matching rifle.

Mostly #5. I like C&R guns, but I'm not a purist. Still, I know enough not to put a Tapco stock on a unicorn N. Korean SKS or anything really stupid like that.

                            #1 & #7.

#1 - meaning I don't feel a (Pawnstars) need to shoot every firearm in my collection to evaluate them - However, other firearms in my collection I'll blast the Hell out of - because it's great fun and I'm not desecrating a piece of history.

#7 - Meaning I like one of everything in my chosen area of collecting (German/Russia WW2), not one of EVERYTHING, lol.
