Im not sure there was such a thing as an "unissued" non private series K31, definitely refinished and reblued, but all that asside, an absolutely beautiful rifle!

I bought this one for $350.00. It is a 1949 and is in very good shape, it's a very pleasant, accurate shooting rifle.

Likely unissued once refurbished. There was a guy selling one as such on GB last month, was also non import marked.

Capybara - that is an amazing original looking K31

Capybara, nice looking K31. I wish mine had the troop tag, that would have been so cool to know who used the rifle before I got it.

Yes, I lucked out, it was one of my rare times when I scored in the Marketplace, I was in the right place at the right time.

Yea with cracked stocks only... And apparently they will sell you some random troop tag for $20, that does not necessarily belong to the rifle. The troop tag should have part of the rifles serial number on the back of it.

Just for clarification, the stocks are not "cracked" per se. They have "armorer's repairs" as do many of the Swiss rifles coming in to the US. Three of mine have them, they are actually pretty cool and add a lot of character to the rifle. Generally consists of inlayed blocks of wood or dowels to stabilize damaged areas. The Swiss do it right though and the stocks are still viable.

They've been advertising them this way for quite some time, everyone that I've seen purchased is a repair, opposed to a cracked stock. The troop tag thing is kind of lame though, I hope they are not pulling them out of a rifle that they belong to just to sell them on the side.

Mine was cracked, in two places. Just lucky I guess.

I did the handpick, but I wonder if they reuse the 4 rejects when selecting the second rifle.

Been wanting one of these for a while, figured I'd better take advantage of getting it shipped straight to me while I still can (no COE yet, still debating about renewing my 03FFL when it expires in June). I went for the walnut stock, and splurged for the hand picked. Fingers crossed!
