    Not on the ends. The important case hardenig is on the faces of the lugs. If, and only if, it is the ends of the lugs, you really wouldn't be taking a whole lot off. More alongs the lines of polishing. Just enough to get clearance. But, that is only if it is the ends of the lugs that are rubbing the inside of the receiver. Also, check the safety lug to make sure it isn't rubbing. Safety lug shouldn't contact at all. It is there only in case the other two fail.

      thanks and yes, the lugs, the round portion to assist the ease of locking is where I filed. In essence, when I tried to lock the load, it was a pain in the a**. Softening or increase the roundness, allowing the lug to grab sooner and with greater ease is what significantly improved the smoothness of my rifle.
