I do remember that I had a M38 Husqvarna. Pristine and made in 1944. I sold it.

I just have to make do with one Scandinavian rifle, this lousy old (1917) FSR rifle.

Okay, I could put up pictures of Swedish Mausers, or a Norwegien Krag 1912 short rifle, without the iron collar bracing the bayonet mount. Or all kinds of Finn Mosins (including Model 1924). But I figured I would toss this one out for you guys to ponder. Who knows what is it, where it is from, and what it shoots? It had me stumped for quite a while, even after I bought it. For around $65.

Nope. It is from a Scandinavian country, and it was military issue.

Looks like an 1889 or 1891 Mauser variant of some sort, but sportered.

It started life as a German WWII K-98... The Swedes bought 5,000 K-98's from Germany at the beginning of WWII. The Swede's converted them to 8x63mm, and used them as light anti armor rifles, then issued them to their heavy machine gun squads, as the Swedish heavy MG of the day was also chambered in the 8x63mm cartridge. After WWII some of the rifles made their war to Israel, where they were converted to 7.62 Nato, and served with the Israeli army. In the 70's a number of Israeli rifles were sold to Guatemala, and were heavily used until they were sold to Century Arms and imported into the US...

The only way to ID these "Ex German Ex Swedish Ex Israeli Ex Guatemalan" rifles is the Swedish "GB" inspector proofs on the left side rail. I looked for years to find one of these.
Wow! I just looked at mine but sadly no "GB" proof. Oddly enough, mine came from the same factory 147 and I think it's about 4000 units older. I guess mine went from Germany to Israel to (maybe) Guatemala to Century then eventually me. So boring...
