They are mostly, if not exclusively Korean re-imports. Most have been rebuilt and/or are mixmasters to some degree or another.

I picked one up many years ago. An IBM. It has an M2 stock and the later sight and bayonet lug band. It's in very good condition and a great shooter. Collector quality, not so much.

What to you think of sending one of these to James River to be restored and maybe a barrel change?

Not a wise use of money. For the cost of the carbine plus the cost of the restoration ($349+) you could get a nice shooter carbine or even a scruffy original configuration carbine.

They made more than 6 million M1 Carbines. It isn't that hard to find one that is nice and doesn't need any restoration.
        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Blue Sky marked Winchester make any difference? Value of a carbine like this?
It looks like 30 carbine ammo is available.

If it's under $600 and in good shape, buy it. If it has a Winchester barrel, definitely buy it. The more Winchester parts the more value it has.

Blue Sky import is better than commercial copy.

Probably you best bet is to search on Gunbroker and/or gunsamerica for sold prices, rather than asking price.

Off the top of my head, I'd say somewhere around $700-800, but I haven't really kept up with prices.

Some of the Blue Sky Imports barrels were hit so hard you could read "the Blue Sky Imports in the bore". Be sure to ask about bore condition!
