    extras for a garand.

Garand incoming from Dupage. What additional items should I have in stock. What springs n bits n bobs are considered essential. I'm going to be converting this to 7.62 NATO at some point so please bear that in mind. I've heard that a gas plus which provides for different power cartridges is not a bad idea.

If you plan to shoot commercial "regular" pressure 30-06 loads then one of the aftermarket gas plugs is nice.

I like having all of my ammo for the day already on clips, and in an old surplus green ammo can, so I bought a ton of clips from Sarco.

Buy a 7.62 barreled receiver from CMP. Switch out the parts from your Dupage Garand and sell the 30-06 barreled receiver. You now have a historically accurate 7.62 NATO Garand.

Grease. You might also want to get a spring kit from Orion 7.

For grease get Mobil 1 synthetic. It'll last you a very long time.

Only thing you really need is replace the Op Rod spring with one from Orion 7, grease and eventually a chamber brush. You dont need any fancy tool to remove gas screw.
Look in you toolbox for a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and extension. It fits prefecty into the cross slot style plug and tightens better than a combo tool

Really? The Navy chambered the Garand in 7.62x51

Might as well make it complete and get a bayonet. Order as much much ammo as you can afford.

Glad to see you went the Dupage route.
Sling, ammo, bayonet, Garandgear gas plug, clips, and check out the stuff from Olongapo Outfitters for ammo holding options.
