Silly comment, but did you call Dupage? They may be able to make it right with you (Note: I have not dealt with Dupage before.).

Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

No I need to pick up calipers to test.
Cylinder gauge says it's good.
I was hoping to fix it myself if it's simple enough. Gives me something to tinker with.
I'm in Socal, it says it next to my name that I'm in the 909

For those of us that are trying to help others, not everyone has time on there hands to memorize all of California's area codes. Thank you BABOOSH!"TRUST BUT, VERIFY"

Sounds like the op rod is binding somewhere.
Mine binds a bit in the last half inch of travel in the groove on the side of the receiver.
I don't have a spare op rod to test, so I just grease it and keep shooting.
Hoping it will loosen up in time and it has, a little.
I still have to tap it forward for the first round to chamber.
Guess no Garand thumb for me.
Check out this video from 1:30-1:38 & 1:50-2:00, he slaps the op rod forward.
That's what I do to mine when I load it.

OP, if you have access to a sight smoker (carbide lamp) or an acetylene torch, smoke the op rod, don't heat it but let the smoke coat it with soot. Carefully reassemble the rifle and rack the bolt all the way through its cycle a few times. When you take it apart again, the soot will have left a mark on the inside of the stock wherever it is binding.Comment

I believe the OP's issue is FTF on the first 3-4 rounds off the clip.Sounds like the op rod is binding somewhere.

Most Garands you will lightly tap the OR to persuade it forward into battery so that is normal. I say most as all the ones I shoot needs a little persuasion/nudge.Comment

That little nudge is what I need to do after firing the first 4 rounds.
Fire
Bolt goes back
Round ejects
Bolt goes to slide forward to chamber new round
Bolt stops
Little nudge like when you first put the clip in and now round is chambered.Just a normal guyComment
