Identify this!!

Spanish 1916, most likely a 7mm.

I have one, 1916 GUARDIA CIVIL, re-chambered to 7.62x51.

It has Tapco import marks on the bottom of the barrel under the front sight.

Mine is a nice shooter.

Well TRAP forgot to mention is that many of those rifles were converted to 7.62 NATO after WW2.

So chances are that is a converter.

And I thought that was doing pretty danged good trying to type with one hand, hold on to the 2yr old sugared up caffeinated grand daughter in my lap, while she has a death grip on the optical mouse trying to see the "cheezeburger kitties" on Poppy's "kompooter".
barearms, try the redneck pencil test. If a standard yellow pencil sticks in the bore, it's "most likely" 7mm. If it falls in, it's "most likely" a 7.62 CETME/NATO chamber. That will give you a starting point. Chamber cast, and especially a head space check are in order.
Should it be a 7.62 bore, Don't shoot .308 WIN in it. You can, and maybe get away with it, but not forever. Best case scenario, the bolt won't open from lug setback. These rifles like the FR-7 and FR-8 were a stopgap measure when Spain joined NATO.
If you reload, or know someone that does, load .308Win cases using .300 Savage load data, and safely enjoy shooting it for years.

I load light (base loads) for mine, although people are always telling me I don't need to.

Of course, it isn't their eye socket that would be catching that bolt in the case of a mishap.
