Post a pic. If its what I'm thinking its about $400-600 depending on condition. There are others here that would know better.

EDIT: saw pics, not what I was thinking.

Looks like a .38 Military & Police Model of 1905- 2nd Change. Made about 1906 to 1909, grips look original.....In it's current condition (assuming it has good lock up, not too much end shake & in time), I'd pay $275.

That is what he would pay doesn't exactly mean that is what its worth mind you lol. I have never seen any S&W revolver sell for under 300$ and they were all in way worst condition than that one. You should go over to the S&W forums someone there should be able to tell you the date as you can tell pricing will vary depending on who you ask or call S&W they can tell you.

CTG is just an abbreviation of Cartridge
So this shoots .38 Smith & Wesson Special.
Commonly known as just .38 Special

Model and value? No idea don't know S&W that well. But I am sure someone else will.

To me it looks like a 1905.

After doing a quick search on GunBroker.com at the auctions that have ended in the last 30 days I saw a bunch of these with starting bids as low as $300 dollars and they never got one bid. Though most starting bids where in the high $400 to $600 dollars.

On the first page of listing only 4 1905's sold. 2 38's and 2 32-20's. The 32-20's sold for about $275 on average and the 38's sold for about $475.

My opinion is that if you want it gone you should offer it up at about $300. If you want the most out of it offer it up at $450. At the $450 price be prepared to wait a while for it to sell.

BTW, the B114 that someone scratched into your gun really hurts the value.

                  Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                      S&W .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 - 3rd Change
                      Serial number range 146900 to 241703. 94,803 manufactured 1909-1915.

33rd ed. Blue Book of Gun Values, value by condition (PPGS)
                      95%: $1225
                      90%: $1050
                      80%: $850
                      70%: $775
                      60%: $650
                      50%: $525
                      40%: $400
                      30%: $300
                      20%: $250
                      10%: $200

Hard to tell from the pictures, but if it hasn't been refinished it is in excellent original condition. You can look at this guide to condition using the PPGS system to determine the % condition http://www.aoct.org/BlueBooks/Guns/Nav/PPGSPistols.pdf
                      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Realistically it is a long way from great. Thinned and spotted finish, scratched B114 in the butt, rode hard. However it is still a Smith .38.

I really believe those low price old S&W 32-20s and 38s are a bargain, super fun plinkers and trail companion with suitable ammo, and a good start for someone just beginning an S&W Hand Ejector collection.
