I resurrected a 1903 a couple of years ago. Yours looks like mine did.

The rifle I posted up earlier is a SA and wears a serial of 1532632 which dates it at 1939 (one of the last ones). It has an SA barrel dated 1-42. Unknown if its the original barrel, I guess it could be? The rifle has a Hatcher Hole so does that make this a USMC rifle or were all '03s getting the hole by then?sigpic

I ordered a stock from Northridge International yesterday, no confirmation email or anything. Then today, I find that the charge has been refunded to my bank account? Still no email or anything.Don't forget to shop at Amazon through Shop42a.com. Up to 25% of every purchase you make through Shop42a.com goes back to help fight for your gun rights.

Anyone know where I can find a screw for this? I dont believe they have the proper screw on their website, they have the one for the swivel, but not a cross screw.
I found one at Sarco, it is for an A3 though. Will it work still?
I think I may have figured it out, and it is no.
But, he has them.
I'm all done for now, the only thing I am questioning is the band spring. I was not able to find one for a 1903,but, I found a A3 model. I could not get a straight answer of if they were interchangeable though.Last edited by omnitravis; 04-18-2013, 9:58 AM.Don't forget to shop at Amazon through Shop42a.com. The lower band springs are functionally interchangeable, but don't look the same.
Bill Ricca's item Y1 is the correct upper band screw, but he has a $20 minimum order.
You might want to try eBay.

Correctly restored, it's a valuable rifle. Do it right - get the best and most original parts available that match the condition of the rifle.
Rick The Librarian - I think he posts over at Culver's Shooting Page - sometimes has nice parts for these rifles. John Spangler and Marc Wade at oldguns.net also sometimes have parts. I think they might have some WW2 03 stocks that would work, or at least until you could upgrade to a nicer one if the opportunity comes along.Last edited by Marcus von W.; 04-20-2013, 9:57 PM.Comment

How do I put the lower band spring on? It is kind of tight, I dont want to damage the wood.
Alright, so, I got the wrong stock...
whoops.
It said 1903 1903A3 type 12 scant. Looked just like mine. I have to go to work, when I get back its time to begin the search, again.
I appreciate everyone's help and input so far, thank you.Last edited by omnitravis; 04-27-2013, 5:27 PM.Don't forget to shop at Amazon through Shop42a.com. Up to 25% of every purchase you make through Shop42a.com goes back to help fight for your gun rights.

Even though the prices are sometimes high, you might also look on evilbay. I have found some hard to get parts that way.
Since your rifle already went through an arsenal rebuild or two, you really don't have to worry about having just the right part to restore it to it's military configuration. Nearly any Springfield or Rock Island part will do. Be patient and take the time to learn what parts you need so you don't have to spend the money twice.
Here is a Remington M1903 from Oct '42 that I restored last year. Remington marked milled parts seem to be the hardest to find right now and don't even ask how hard it is to find a correct Remington '03 (not 03-A3) stock.
As I found it:

yeah, I thought it would go on, but, I realized I got the wrong stock and edited my post. It wont even fit. And you realize the page you sent me has little to no info, and when I click on the reassembly manual, it goes to a page that says store is closed.
You get your stock on ebay, highpower?Last edited by omnitravis; 04-28-2013, 8:25 PM.Don't forget to shop at Amazon through Shop42a.com. Up to 25% of every purchase you make through Shop42a.com goes back to help fight for your gun rights.
