    CMP M1 Garand unboxing

Got here today, it looks pretty amazing.

Serial dates it to June 1943. Looks to be nearly all SA parts with USGI wood.

Difficult to see in the picture, but eagle cartouche. Looks like USGI wood, between June 1953-1957

Interestingly, gas plug is stamped IHC. International Harvester Corporation?

Yeah, gas plug is International Harvester, subcontracted through "NHC". which, if memory serves is New Haven Clock, but dont quote me on that.

Interesting little piece. I'll replace it with a ported gas plug anyway, but I love unique pieces like this.

It's a service grade. I have another M1 from Dupage Trading that is in a little bit better shape, but costs a little more.

But it's the only one with THIS serial number in this exact configuration.

He definitely should get something rare like an AK or AR.

BTW, where did anyone claim Garands were rare? Why are you in this thread?
