My Souvenir

Well last October my wife and I went on vacation to the Grand Canyon. On the way home via Prescott we stopped by a little store called J&G Sales and I picked up a little souvenir.

I wasn't sure I really wanted one when I first saw them I don't know how many years ago for like $69.99. And over the years I've watched them go to $79.99, $99.99 and the current $119.99.

And, Over the years I've learned more and more about them and I finally decided that I wanted one.

Here is my Nagant 1895 Revolver.

They're interesting and fun to bring out to let people shoot 'em who don't know about 'em.

Stock up on surplus ammo while it's available -- it's noticeably more powerful than the commercial stuff.

Oh cool, you got one of the older ones with the wood grips. My J&G M1895 has the plastic grips.

I picked up a pair a couple years ago from JG. One of the reasons I started reloading was ammo for the Nagant.

The heavy trigger isn't my problem, it's that I can't aim it for the life of me. That and surplus brass sticks in the cylinder and is a pain to get out.

Anyone in the SD area willing to teach me how to shoot it?

We got one at J+G about a year ago, still $99 then. I've found cocking the hammer and shooting it single action works best.

I got this one for $99 too in October. I think the price just went up this month.

Interesting and historical due their age and background, but really rather horrible little guns as far as being practical or user friendly, with a weird, uncommon, and rather anemic round.

There is a reason that these, and the equally silly and evil Steyr M95's, have remained among the lowest priced and most available military surplus arms of the past 2 to 3 decades.
