New Class for Sac Valley Silhouette Match, Open Iron

For those that missed this months silhouette match (it was suggested by a few shooters), the match director will allow an open iron sight class. This would be lots of fun as the target rifles will show up. I know there are lots of M1s and M1As with Alley sights that should do well. This will be a fun class as there will be rifles coming out of the safe for a match for the first time.

I know there are lots of target rifles out there that just waiting to debut. FlyinBrian said he will shoot his M96 FSR rifle Elit sight. I'll try my luck with one of my CG-63 below with a Sederin sight and Schultz & Larsen tube. Anybody else thinking about shooting open iron? I'm guessing this class will be dominated by the Swedes namely M96 FSR and CG-63 and CG-80 rifles. Although I'm not ruling out the possibility someone with a Russian Mosin with target sights dominating this class. It's anyone's match. Can't wait.

Those look like a couple of nice rifles you got there. They look as if they are fresh from the factory. Look forward to checking them out next month. It sounds like a real fun match and show and tell event as well. I can only imagine what else shooters will be bringing.

Bring it to the match and enjoy a good day of shooting.

          Juanito,

Does that mean I can shoot my K-31 with diopters on it???

Why you asking that old pharter? He runs nothing, except possibly his oral orifice. He has way too many super fancy iron sighted rifles to be a judge.

Of course you can. I allow it. So do you.

Not the match director but from what I understand any MilSurp rifles with other than scope or issued sight so yes your K31 with diopter is good to go. I did not think you had dipoters on your K31 just a scope.

Ford take it easy on me now. True I don't run the match or make the rule just follow it. I have some rectangular apertures being made just for this match. Not sure how well they would work but I'll give it a try.

                Juanito,

I've got one with glass, one with battle sights and one with a diopter....

Bob, I heard you the first time. You don't have to say it twice. Delete your dupe post.

I say bring it on an let the diopter battle begins. There should be some awesome shooting at this match (me not being one of them). From what Rob is saying, this one guy with an FSR used to clean house before optics ruled the open class.

                    That's weird, I didn't send it twice...

Looks like Tom will have to go to three relays pretty soon. Hey if he does you could shoot 2 rifles one scope or as issued and one diopters ha . Arnie

Now that's an idea. I guess you would get a discount on the entry fee as you already paid for the range fee. I would shoot both open iron and as issued.

I could finally shoot the K 31 with the Swiss Products diopter. Sure it is just a plain battle rifle with aftermarket target sights but its got to be better than old man notch and post fuzzies.

And Janito, I ain't being hard on you. It is just when I see a teed up meatball, it must be hit.

Don't forget the "military sporter class" for rifles that were in the military, but got "Bubba-Ed" -- like my Mauser .25-'06 with the custom stock and glass.

Sounds like ya better set up 2 matches! Or run an AM & a PM match.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
