2012 Was A Good Year To Get A C&R License.

What a year it has been. I discovered that there is more to life than evil black rifles and 'tactical' handguns. After getting my FFL03 in July, I put it to good use. Since the noose is tightening in 2014 and I have no plans for getting a COE, I decided to GO FOR IT!

Thanks go to J&G and Classic Firearms for having the Chinese SKS and shipping them hassle free to California 03's. Here's what I ended up with from them:

I feel like I really scored with these SKS rifles because they (except for the Sino-Alby in the middle) are all 100% matching including the stocks. Some have awesome bluing and some it is worn, but all of the parts have minimal wear and are in great shape. One came with a broken magazine hinge pin but that was the extent of the problems and it was an easy fix. These 5 C&R SKS were a great compliment to the 10 others I have picked up through non 03 transactions.

My other newfound passion is the Mosin Nagant. These were the last two I just got and are still in the grease. A 1940 Izzy and a 1940 Tula. Both are in perfect condition with 100% matching numbers and neither appear to have been fired ever.

These ones were acquired earlier in the year, a few before I got my 03:

I really am only interested in the Russian / Commie guns. Maybe it is the cheapskate in me but the American C&R's are just too expensive to feed. Maybe someday. For now it is all about spam cans and steel case goodness.

So that is it for now...I have three M44's on the way from Wideners because $199 is just too good a deal to pass up.

2012 has been a good year for the 03 Crowd. Merry Christmas Calguns.

Modern guns get boring real quick, C&R's spark your imagination. For those with a love for guns and an appreciation for history.....there is a hardly a better hobby. My only regret is my lack of time, space and money.

The history in these guns and the accessibility and low ammo costs keep drawing me to them.

I have time, but after acquiring these guns I definitely am lacking in space and money!

I think if you ask most CRFFLER's they will tell you the same thing
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Modern guns are kinda boring - There's something holding (for a example) a 1940-something mosin nagant, esp one that has the "been-there-done-that" look; your imagination really gets going!

                  You scored on those SKS'

I went shooting with a buddy with expensive EBRs (he only buys the best ), and i brought a couple sks i picked up recently.

                  He loved them!
and now wants one, was saying that they do everything the EBR with telescopes/laser/red dot (yeah, he went a little overboard with the rails) but with iron sights (shooting steel at 100 yards).

Very nice collections Bobby. I went a different direction and now have five M44s. My '53 Hungarian, three '44 Izhevsks from SOG and I too have one coming from Wideners (someday, their shipping delay is now almost at a month).

I did score that nice '55 Blonde Tula SKS, love it too.

I'm guessing the new focus on assault weapons is really going to leave the 03 Market ripe for the taking...

...or maybe I'm just being hopefully optimistic, as I still want an FN49, a Hakim, and at least one SKS.

How sad...... I had to sell my FN49, Hakim and SKS all within the last year.

+1 on Hakim. I kick myself for missing the load that I believe Classic had earlier this year.

it was also a good year for retail buyers. i looked at every rifle i bought first. paid a little more but that is ok. nice collection you have their. i stopped keeping more than 1 of each type of rifle. sold a lot of duplicate mosins.
                            i kept 1 sniper and 1 M 44. moved on to \other rifles .
                            1. M 48 mauser
                            2. springfield M1A.
i still love my commie rifles and will still purchase on sale MN.

It's just a matter of time before the focus goes to 03s, especially semi-autos, but eventually all of them because they are "military weapons made to kill humans". The antis are really going for total disarmament, period. Even if we don't have any "assault weapons" (wrong term, idiot gun grabbers), we need to fight just as hard against all of the insanity that is going to hit next year. A gun is a gun and eventually they are coming for all of them. Not one inch.
