I am already working on my funds and travel arrangements for the January show. My feeling is that with baseball spring training coming around. Hotels are gonna be more expensive.

I always make the Dec show and try to squeeze in a summer show as well, think it is June or July. I actually spent a record low there this year. Did not find anything work bringing home in the way of C&R stuff and everything was pretty overpriced. There were some decent deals on 03A3's, M1 carbines, Garands, P14's and P17's, all of which I own in duplicates. Vendors were a bit on the low side, no SAW/Ken Elmore, Model 1 Sales, and numerous others, attendance did not seem to suffer though, it was packed both Sat and Sun.

        Did you get a Mas 49 or a 49/56?

Not so much spring training as you will start seeing all the "Snow Birds" coming to town. That's what spikes the prices.
            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

So am I. Not all Snow Birds stay in RV parks and such. A lot will stay in hotels/motels.

This thread is making those of us that have financial responsibilities very envious of those that can buy several guns at one time and travel to these events and yet still have money to burn. Lucky dogs, it must be nice!

I just booked the Courtyard Marriott in Scottsdale for the January show at $60 per night through Priceline.

We went last weekend. Spent about $6-8K, and are still sorting stuff.

                          Good price.

I never use Priceline. I did once for Vegas and got hosed, never again.

I left it too late and flew in on Sunday AM with an empty pack - it was a very good show, I will drive next time.
My back pack was very heavy by mid morning and there was a lot of collectable ammo I wanted - but would not be able to fly back with - sealed 300 round battle packs of WW2 8mm.
Negotiating and dealing was great - picked up stacks of useful things.

The SAR bldg. was the best for me - I found the unobtainium Czech ZB26 butt-plate (with fittings) I have been looking for for weeks - RTG, Algheny, all the guys I usually buy mail-order from, there to deal, negotiate and sell - my kind of place.

Some sightings for C&R nerds: original MG34 AA sights, MG34 milled saddle drum top cover, saw cut MP44 receiver, Mauser T gewehr anti-tank rifle, WW2 Soviet Anti Tank rifle, Chinese MG08/15 parts kit $1200, A case of in grease MP40 mags $80 each, sealed case of Vickers belted .303, MP40 kits $1500, Mini-gun kits $25K... OK that last one wasn;'t a C&R.

                            Highly recommend the trip.

Guns, bayonets and restricted amount of ammo were fine in luggage on Southwest - I had no problems, just follow the rules, they are on line on the southwest website. But I will drive next time, it is just an altogether different gun show experience to anything Cali can offer now.
