I was wondering if anyone has seen a better finish on one of these? Ive seen quite a few in the $1500 range like this one http://www.gunauction.com/buy/112562...41-with-holste

but even at that price my pistols finish is superior. Im not really wanting to debate the value of my pistol as its not for sale and it would take some milsurps from SVT's collection for me to trade it out. Im wondering if there are other pistols in the condition as mine to maybe figure out where it came from. For example were all gonna remember where the century sks's came from. Does anyone remember these coming in like this?

        Nope it's original.

Compare it to these pic's of one of mine. It's the sharp proof marks which tell the tale. This one is unusual as it's a Izhevsk produced gun, and a "cold war" produced pistol made in 1949.

Ok, to keep it honest since a lot of guys in here help me out and Svt happens to know the truth I gave up a krag for it. I wanted everyone to be full of hopes and dreams for the new year.

I'd say that's a trade I'd make. Assuming your Krag wasn't a sporter, original Krags are difficult to find at a decent price...but an original Soviet TT-33 in any condition, let alone in as good of shape as that one is, rarely surface.

I didn't find it an unbelievable story.

I bought my non-import marked/no added safety/"bringback" Tula 1940 TT-33 for $220 out the door about 6 years ago from a gun shop in Burbank. It was on consignment and I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.

Deals are out there. Sometimes you get lucky.
