    C&R handgun purchase in California

Does anyone know a cheaper way to get transfer and DRO for handguns.
One of the handgun I'm interested in is 1895 Nagant Revolver, the price is quiet good that you can get very good to excellent condition for $100. However after transfer fee, DRO and tax, it would end up double the price. Does anyone know there is a good way to lower the cost of getting C&R handguns in CA.

    Thanks

If you have a 03 you can travel outside the state and buy one, bring it back, and register it by mail for $19.

    Those revolvers are definately curios.

Its good to know I can register by mail.

I do have FFL03, but I'm more looking at buying them off internet.

Where are you located? I know a home based FFL in Hemet CA that only charges $35 to receive an out of state firearm plus the DROS ($25). Thats for Calguns members only and thats the cheapest I have seen.

I use Center Mass Shop in Mojave Ca.

Rich is a small home based FFL that works by appointment

He only charges $20.00 plus DROS and of course Tax.

If the pistol was manufactured in 1895, wouldn't it be exempt as not being a firearm? Anything manufactured prior to 1898 is not considered a firearm but an antique.

That is just the model, most for sale were made well after that.

In addition to what chknlyps2 said, just about all Nagant revolvers are also dated on the frame. Especially all the WWII manufacted revolvers that are out there for sale. Finding an antique Nagant is a tough find and will be quite pricy compared, since they would only have had been produced during the first 3 years.

If you're in the San Diego area, Wiser Owl Firearms only charges $10 + DROS. ($35 total, plus tax, of course)

That's very reasonable. I thought the state had run all the "small home based" type 01 FFFs out of business with all the extra regulations they imposed.

                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
