The Korean shoots decent and the brass is similar to Lake City but it is very dirty. Its alao rumored to be somewhat corrosive so clean accordingly.

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Let me think about that. Reloading kit. Dies. Powders, etc.,and no experience on reloading. It all adds up let's say $300+ just to get started. How is that cheaper for the average shooter that does does shoot that often?

Your piddling over $3 and change and don't see the benefit in hand loading then there is nothing you would get from tailored ammo. Stick with your gimmicks and hope for the best then.

                So you do re-load?

The why for the average Joe is pleasure and better accuracy.

+1. That is a very common load. Varget is another powder in the same load configuration.

and CMP has tons of surplus, but, can FMJ ammo be used for hunting?
Depends on what and where you are hunting. Most states don't allow FMJ for big game.

FMJ is not considered humane for large game because it has a tendency to wound instead of kill.

The Ported Gas Plug from garandgear.com is the way to go.

Remington Express Core-Lokt, either 150gr or 180gr, is fine w/ your stock rifle as well. Inexpensive, Accurate, and effective.

It may be the way to go, but shipping from GarandGear is UPS only and they overcharge almost fifteen bucks for a very small package. Post Office would only be a couple of bucks at the most.

Full metal jacket ammo does not expand. Some will bend a bit, but in general, it passes through game.

Soft point will expand and the larger cross section causes more damage as the expanded (larger) bullet can transfer more energy.

A different way of explaining it- if a bullet enters a deer at 3,000 FPS and exits at 2,500 Fps
Then the bullet has only transferred the difference in speed into the deer

The best design would have the bullet stop just short of the skin on the exit side of the animal so all of the energy is transferred to the deer

                              Does this make sense?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Pick up your garand and walk around the house with it for about 10 min, hold it for about 3 hours standing or sitting and then walk around for another 10.After that you are going to say why did i take this rifle. It is 1 heavy mother.
