Is there a good way to tell where a given Garand's been? I know a lot of the current crop are from Greece and that's supposed to be shown by the dark chamber. However, a lot of the current CMP service grades I've been seeing don't have that dark chamber; they're in the white. So from where did they come? Any resources that indicate marks used by foreign governments? I looked through the CMP forums but couldn't find anything of use. Thanks

Then I read a post on the CMP forum that people purchased multiple Kimbers this past weekend. Did you see any Kimbers? I think I may have to take the morning off from work Wednesday and pick one up.
At least a dozen (noon on Saturday). $425 each.

I was considering buying one but only had the cash for the two service grades M1s - a father & son set.

A parked chamber has nothing to do with where it has been. All that means is it was at one time the receiver and barrel were reparked.
Everytime someone gets a Garand with dark parkerizing they call it "Greek park" which simply isnt true. Its something guys just started repeating and has stuck
While the Greek finish is black its easy to tell the difference between it a Arseanal or original park.
It has a real dark glossy look, almost like a thick paint look

What CMP has now are mostly Greek returns, every now and then you do here of a Dane return rifle in the mix. Who knows they may have found a crate they didnt know they had or someone may have donated their collection back to CMP.

The year to 18 months left of rifles at CMP has been quoted for at least ten years. I know they will run out eventually, but they seem to find new sources.

Think Turkey got about 300k Garands, have no idea how many they still have.
Would be nice if they still possessed a nice slug of rifles that they were interested in returning.
