Just got a package from Sweden today ;)

I have an acquaintance in Sweden who collects Finnish & Swedish military items and today I received a package I have been waiting for. It has 2 rear sight ladders for Swedish Mausers, along with the Vasteras micrometer sight adjuster and the extremely hard to find covers. It also included a full set of shims made by Norma Projectile that allow for fine tuning of the rear sight ladder. Here's what I got:

Here is a pic of the Vasteras mounted on one of the Swedes:

Here is the smaller of the covers mounted over the rear sight:

Hopefully I'll get to try these out tomorrow after the Silhouette match

For those of us (like me) who hadn't seen these before, I'll post up a few pics of the shims here. I have made a few of these myself over the years for my mosins, not knowing that there ever was a real "kit" like this. When my friend asked if I would be interested in the set, I didn't even know what it was exactly but I wanted it!!

Here is the 550 Meter shim laying on the sight base:

Here is the shot from the rear:

This is how much it raises the sight ladder... exactly the same amount as the Vasteras wheel BTW:

The shims are very nice and the Vasteras sight cover is sweet. The black sheet metal cover is a very rare item. I assume you are using them on a M/96 rifle?.

The Swedish Mausers are just beautiful and one of my weaknesses. Especially their Cg/63's
A few pic's of some of the Swede's in my collection.

My 96 has the same sight, thanks for the pics, I've never seen the accessories before.

Hey Trap, thanks, I had never seen this stuff either

I guess there are 2 different styles of these Vasteras sights; one is made for the M38 and only goes from 250M to 600 or so. The ones that are made for the 96 go from 100M to 600M, so I was careful to make sure these are the right ones.

I wish SVT hadn't posted up those beautiful CG/63s, I have been eyeing those and it is one of the last pieces I need to complete the first round of the Swede collection. Here's the latest entry into the group from a few weeks ago:

Wow, yeah that appears to be the problem all right, you have Swede-itis!!

As for the sheet metal cover, my friend told me one is in the book "Crown Jewels" and is mistakenly identified as a cheek riser for a sniper rifle!
I haven't purchased that book yet, but now that I have the cover I will definitely be wanting to get the book to see what it is about.

He has another cover for sale, but it is similar to the brass one I have but you have to remove the slider from the ladder sight, as it covers the entire ladder... so that is why I chose the smaller brass and the sheet metal one.

I'll send you a PM when I get time, I would like your opinion on a CG/63 and what I should be looking for

                          Cool find, Brian!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Please do. I'm always happy to help a fellow Swede addict!! I may even decide to part with a few of my Cg/63's in the near future.
