Mailed my order off to CMP today.....

After years of procrastinating and drooling over Garands others have received, I finally pulled the trigger on a SA Service Grade. With the quality of the current batch of rifles and the quick turn around time as of late I figured now was the time.

I included a sticky with a request, hopefully they will be able to accommodate. I will update this post with pics once the mystery prize arrives.

    Order Update:
    Mailed 10/17/12
    At CMP 10/19/12
    DBU 10/31/12

I just got My 3rd Garand from them today. Took a shot and Got SA FG and requested Low S/N and Decent Gi wood.

I received 1.5 Mil March '43 SA receiver Looks Great and A Wartime SA Stock cant make out anything but crossed cannons and cirle P. Wood Looks ALOT better then I expected. ME +2 TH+4 Still Great . Parts Mostly HRA, but couldnt of asked for better. Will post pics tonight.

But like others will tell you, You wont be dissapointed. And if you are the CMP will do there best to fix it.

I requested high s/n and new wood, walnut if possible. I would like my first to be as good a shooter as possible. I figure with the next one (we all know there will be a next one) I will ask for low s/n and/or GI wood.

Sounds like you and I will be on basically the same timeline for processing - my paperwork just went out last Friday.

Received notification of delivery from USPS. Pasadena to Anniston, AL in 40 hours for less than $5.00. FedEx 2-day would have been $25.00. Now the real waiting begins.

I just got my CMP Garand, (3 weeks turn around tops!). I requested a WWII serial. Recieved a Service grade, origional stock, August 1944 reciever, and a barrel that has a muzzle reading of "0+" and a throat of "2".

                  Score.

Needless to say, I am happy!

Trnorman congrats and what do you mean you included a sticky with a request? I don't mean to hijack but which method of ordering are you guys doing? I want to order a service grade Garand but this is my first time so I'm not sure what the best way is. Also which club is beneficial to Garands? I found the search page for all the groups but no list. If anyone has any other tips before I place my order I'd appreciate it. One more thing, what else should I order? Extra clips? Ammo?

You can add just a sticky note to your order with requests(decent Gi wood, Low S/N etc..) But its only a request andyou get what you get sometimes. But CMP has done very well for me and many others in the past.

Sent in my letter for (1ea) Service SA / Service HR on Monday 10/15.
I've heard cases of no communication from CMP and the stork just drops off

There are some folks on the CMP forum who are still waiting for any response from CMP as well; seems the CMP is pretty crushed with orders from when the 6 million serial Garands went on sale. My order form was delivered on the 15th according to USPS, and I also haven't heard a peep.
