Yea I love the history of World War Two. I have an 03 C&R and I want to use it as much as I can before 2014. Just got it so 2013 will be an expensive year. Also want to get an M44

Marcus pretty much nailed it. The double and triple dates are cool, and worth a little more, but not a gigantic sum.

I remember seeing one quadruple date MO on the 7.62x54r forums, that's the only one of those I've ever seen.

So if I were collecting. Should I get a single date or a double date? I want a 1941 Tula cause I know those are more rare then the other years.

That depends entirely on what the single date is.

Assuming the single date is a plain 42-43 Izhevsk with nothing special about it, take the double date. If the single date is something rare, like 41 Tula, then take the single date over the double date.

Good luck with the 41 Tula, I've looked through literally thousands of refurbs and not found one. I've seen maybe 6-12 on online forums in the five years I've been collecting.

If ur collecting look for a Russian recapture. Meaning Russian built captured by finns then recaptured by Russia. Or M91 Finns. Or any SA marked or any pre 1900 receivers. I see slot of guys date mosins by the date on the barrel I have no idea why but MOST do. If you pull it out of the stock there's a receiver date on the bottom of the rear tang. Then ur gonna want some good shooters VKT or SKY receivers with Finn barrels. Not all mosins are Russian made and you'll quickly find out $400-$500 is the norm for good collectable mosins. Most of these $100 1 of 80 million guys think mosins were only made in 1942 in Russia. If you think about the price of garands compared to produced and mausers produced to price I'd expect mosins to raise once the supply dries up. It will happen. May take 50 years but....

Most of the added dates found with MO markings are pre-1953, and the Soviet "Ministry of Defense" agency did not exist before 1953. Now the Polish Communist "Ministry of Defense - MO" agency existed from at least 1943
I have a really clean triple dated (1939/44/50 Tula) MO - 3digit serial matching, non counter bore that I picked up for a song here on CG's about five years ago.
I need to get around to pulling her apart to see what the date on the tang is and slug the bore.

Another reason I love the MN is all the history and production numbers.
There is still a good change to find needle in a haystack if you know what to look for. -g
