Awesome story. I did a report on the bear as part of a history project in high school and the teacher was blown away by it. Apparently the soldiers taught him how to smoke cigarettes and he was extremely fond of beer. He lived out the rest of his days comfortably in the Edinburgh Zoo, and is considered a sort of folklore hero to the Polish people.
