numrich has stocks available in good to very good condition so no worries. i may try to grab one that's in my vicinity if the owner will part with it. not terribly pretty and the bayonet rattles, but if he'll part with it cheap, i'd be glad to have it. already have a nice m44 but more is always better right?

There you go. Numrich has a good to excellent stock for the M44 if I go that route. I think I can always sporterize a mismatched Type 53 and get a matching M44.

Ordered two from J&G - Paid extra for "hand picked" -

They arrived and were beat to death.

I can't imagine how they could've been in worse condition.

now we're getting into shooting season i may have a chance to take one out and shoot it. it's not mine but it may become, if you catch my meaning. i know my m44 shoots, it's awesome, even without the bayonet extended, lol(bunch of nonsense). i'd really like to see how a t53 compares though. as for matching numbers, who cares? it's a freakin' mosin and it's gonna be well after our lifetime that they're going to be worth much money. shoot it and have fun, don't worry about banging it around, that's what they were meant for.
