    Big5 Yugo m24/47, $150

Went by a certain Big 5 today and saw this,

My dad and I were kinda in a rush, and he's not that big of a gun guy, so I didn't see the gun up close, but all I can say is one had a lot of bluing lost, the other looked pretty nice. I'm two weeks from turning 18, so I still need a parent to fill out the 4473, and my dad wasn't to ecstatic about it... So that's disappointing. I had my own money for it, but he still didn't want me have it. It's not the worst thing in the world, my goal is to limit the range of calibers/gauges I have for price and convenience, but it's a Yugo Mauser for $150, so I would make an exception for that lol.

I'm pretty sure this classifies as a dick move, but my gut feeling says to go with my mom tomorrow and get it in the morning. Hopefully the sale continues for tomorrow.

Anything under $200 is a good deal for a 24/47 now.

I'll sleep on it (not really a choice now), still iffy. Trying not to lose track of something pricey I'm saving up for, but if a lot of people consider it a screamin' deal then it's kind of hard to look the other way.

When I was your age, Mosin Nagants and Turk Mausers were $49, and and I kick myself for not buying more then. Hell, that Stevens 200 for $224 is a steal too, where do you live?

Talk to the manager at Big 5 and tell him/her that you'll be 18 in 2 weeks and would really like this to be the first rifle you buy. Ask them if you can put it on "lay-a-way" for those 2 weeks and then come back and do the DROS on it.

                  BTW Happy Birthday
                  Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

So I was saving the money up originally for strikefire red dot for my bone stock M&P 15 sporter, then obviously this came up. They are both a similar price, what do you guys think would be more useful/practical? I have no 8mm guns or ammo, and from what I've seen 8mm surplus is only available in a few places.

The strikefire red dot or something like it will always be there at a steady price. Those 60yr old mausers will not.

It's perfectly legal for a parent to give their 17 year old son a rifle as a gift. But it's illegal for a parent to sell their 17 year old son a rifle. It's also illegal for a parent to fill out the paperwork for a firearm purchase for their 17 year old son when their 17 year old son is the actual purchaser (paying for) the firearm.

On guns I've gotten, it was always in gift form, not me actually paying for it. My bad on the wording of it.

Hard decision to make, but the reality is that I really don't need it. I know it's awesome deal but, I personally don't want another caliber, and If I got it I would likely just trade it for an M44 for ammo convenience. I don't reload, and quality 8mm surplus ammo is kinda dried up for now. I'm attempting to save up for an FAL, so that's at least $800-$1000, and that means no strikefire either. To boot my dad plays an excellent devils advocate. Might kick myself later, but as of now it is what it is.

For the benefit of others this was at the Big5 on Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa, sale ends today.
