    Colt M1892 Revolver

Thought I'd share this nice field-wear condition New Model Army / Navy commercial Colt M1892 DA in .41 Long Colt I picked up today for the stellar price of $275.
I've always wanted a 92 and couldn't resist this one at that price.
This revolver in an antique, manufactured in 1898 and is in great shape with tight lock up and original hard rubber grips. There is however, a small chip on the underside of the right grip but it's not distracting much at all. The bore also still retains strong lands with some frosting throughout. I Can't wait to roll some low pressure loads for this ole' gal. It should be a really fun revolver to plink with. I've also gotta send off a letter to Colt to see where this revolver was originally delivered to.

Very nice, very nice. Gotta love that field-wear condition! Personally, I prefer a gun with a few miles on it. Enjoy!
I love it when a plan comes together.

Nice acquisition. The old Colts are always interesting.

Let us know how it shoots.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I have a question for you GOEX:

I know the 38 LC had a problem with their cylinders and had to be recalled, did the models in 41 LC have the same malfunction?

Emdawg, thanks for your question. I believe what you're referring to was the cylinder problems in the M1889's locking system, which caused the cylinder to be turned when holstered or even when the trigger was pulled during the lock-up. The M1889 was rejected because of this issue. The M1892 (New Model Navy) was the first model that combined the trigger stop with the cylinder pawl and an extra set of cylinder stop notches where added to prevent any misfires that were associated with the weak M1889's locking system.

That is an awesome gun and I think you got a great deal on it.
                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Ammo is available. Expensive, but available. Almost all of it uses the inside-lubed hollow-based bullets instead of the heeled, outside-lubed early version. The same goes for the reloading supplies. Starline makes brass, though they only do one or two runs a year, so it is often out of stock. You can use .38 Special brass. It looks goofy when you do, but it works reasonably well. I am still tinkering with my loads. They tend to shoot fairly high. Nice gun, btw. And great price.

p.s. here is mine, and a target from one of the postal matches over at Zombie Squad. And before you get excited, that was at a whopping 7 yards, and I had to put the bottom of the black circle on the top of the front post. at that range.
