An early Arisaka model 99 with the mum ground might be in that price range. IIRC, I paid $375 for my 99 with the "anti-aircraft" sight and intact mum. Of course, 6.8 or 7.7 ammo is far, far more expensive than surp 7.62x54r, but the Arisaka is far less common on the range.

No K31? Look at all you can do with it.
      Right out to 1,000 yards.

I actually looked at those and British endfields (.303) but the expensive ammo was the problem.

think he mentioned he wanted a pistol. buy a tokarev or makarov. makarov is cheaper to feed these days, as 7.62x25 surplus has all but disappeared and if not, has doubled in price. still get 9 makarov pretty cheap if you look around. as for making a schmidt-rubin look like that? jesus.... if you're gonna buy a rifle, buy a mosin, be it a 91/30, m44, m38, whatever the first one you come across for cheap in good shape, go for it, everyone should have one. as far as nagant revolvers, neat, but that's because you can watch the slug go downrange to where it hits, lol. trajectory like a frickin' field howitzer because they go like 200fps or something. wouldn't be my first choice.

These things are straight ill, dude. I've never seen a surplus rifle, with surplus ammo, do what my K31 does...

I had a cz82 and have a P1. Both are great guns. I stuck with the P1 because it's 9x19 what with ammo availability. Kinda regret selling the cz82 though...

Not saying that the Com-bloc pistols are "bad", but for a bit more $$, you might be able to get a 50-year-old 1911. This is not that long ago anymore; we're talking 1962 now. Same goes for a S&W .38 Special revolver from the old days, e. g. a "Victory" model or similar. I've seen old ones like that, lost their bluing, got all sorts of patina, etc. for in the $300's.

I would definately go with a Tokarev variant of some sort. They are solid, Browning-style pistols with a great punch. New manufacture S&B ammo is available for about the same price as 9mm. And it will indeed go through most types of soft armor. If you want something other than a purely military gun, I would look at some of the older Colt or Smith and Wesson revolvers. You can pick up nice .38 Special versions for under $200 on gunbroker all the time.
