Kris, a good thing to do would be to get some books on the M1 Garand. A good one for a newby would be by Scott Duff. You can get them here...http://www.fulton-armory.com/

With commercial ammo its hit and miss. You might be lucky and shoot a commercial round with fast burning powder or could be unlucky and get a slow burning powder and bend your $150+ (used one) op rod. Why chance it when you can get HXP from CMP?

If you don't reload yet, its time to start. M2 ball is still out there but who knows for how much longer.

Once I get the garand I will start reloading but my current calibers is doesnt make sense to reload
