M48's, in my view, is one of the best buys. Not necessarily on a collectability stand point, too early to say. However, most have seen little to no use, the workmanship of the stock, milled parts, etc...it should retail $800+ in it's own right. For the most part, these are very accurate, never fail rifles.Comment

That they do!
M48: 1950-1952- The initial version of the M48, with full crest and all machined steel parts.
M48A: 1952-1956- Inclusion of stamped parts. the M48A used sheet metal stampings for the magazine floor plate. These changes sped production while lowering cost. The critical bolt and receiver which contain the pressure of the burning propellant within the cartridge case retained the same material requirements and design tolerances (i.e. were machined from forged steel) in the A and B variations."TRUST BUT, VERIFY"

I had an M48 Yugo Mauser that the previous owner bought from Big 5 years ago. It was a good solid rifle that never gave me any trouble. Shot about 2 MOA with Yugo surplus ammo. IIRC the bolt was 1/8" shorter than on the regular K98, so I could not swap bolts with the RC K98 I had (not that I would want to, but I just mentioned it to illustrate that some parts are unique to the Yugo M48's). Ammo and stripper clips are the same. Just make sure you get a good barrel."All bad precedents began as justifiable measures." Julius CaesarComment

i am not cheep, but i do like Quality at a good price. the M-48 fits my gun needs. it looks like a lot of rifle for 300 bucks. i would rather have a like new rifle than a well used collectable worth more.Comment
