My friend likes to hunt at some private hunting grounds where the pigs grow around 300lbs. Last time he went, he shot one with his 308. It didn't go down but turned on him. He was using a scoped rifle and he said it was impossible to see the pig. Luckily he was able to get a second shot off looking over his scope.

M38 easy cause M48 are still around and M38's are much more rare and awesome to shoot.

The Mauser on the other hand is just feels better. The fit and finish is head and shoulders above the Mosin. To me, its a better rifle but it costs more to shoot. Also, I plan on doing some pig hunting with either one. Both are in immaculate shape. I would like to hear your input. Pics are the actual firearms. *correction: M48 not K98*

            Mosin Nagant M38

            Mauser
M48s are commin, whereas M38s are uncommon, the M38 shoots nice and is cheaper to shoot, go for the M38, i still prefer the M38 over my M48.

FWIW, at 100 yards my 91/59 did not shoot high or low. It shot right on point!

I've gotten 3" groups using surplus Soviet ball, but I need to try again as I got a trigger job for it. It breaks lighter than my Finn trigger! I love this rifle.

I am a Mauser guy, but of those choices I would take the M91/59.

That looks to be a pretty nice M48 though.

The bigger pigs have some great shields on the side.

If I were going pig hunting, I'd probably bring my 98k with at least 180gr softpoints (once this rifle gets its sight and chamber issues resolved).

I would also not hesitate to bring the 91/59.

Not to be a douche, but have you ever shot a big game animal? you do know the most popular deer caliber is the .30-06?

Try to swing a deal to get them both. Neither one would be a mistake. If you find you don't like one of them, you won't have trouble selling it.

Only thing it probably needs is a trigger job.
