There are a few reasons I did what I did a couple of years ago.

One of the biggest reason is that I didn't want to give the state of California any more money then I have too. And, that means not getting a COE.

I know two 03 C&R FFL's is not in the cards for everyone but if there is any way you can get a second license by all means do.

Read my signature for more info.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I applied for and quickly rec'd my 03FFL in May 2011. I used it to order a Garand from the CMP, however, I could have used one of several other documents to fill that requirement. My home land is Nebraska/Kansas but we always fly when we visit family to avoid the 2 day drive. 03FFL doesn't do me any good unless I drive. I'm not into the old bolt gun scene so other than the Garand shipped to my door, which was very cool, I haven't ordered any long guns to date. I will be starting the 10 wait and DROS'ing a Tokarev thats older than I am (48) on Thursday and picking it up after Labor Day just like every other Joe gun buyer in California. A COE could solve that but I would rather wait 10 days every time than give Jerry Brown ANOTHER $100 of my cash just to exersise my constitutional rights. At some point I intend to find a reason to drive east and buy a C&R HG with my 03 before it expires just because I can. I also intend to find employment in my chosen field outside California to avoid the continued gloomy sensation that comes with living in a rediculously over regulated socialist state that has great weather and lots of pretty beaches and scenery but will eventually outlaw private gun ownership altogether. This is just my 2 cents worth on where I am at in regard to obtaining an 03FFL in California. Many of the guys on CALGUNS have a blast buying/shipping long guns from out of state and/or using the COE to travel in California buying C&R Handguns. MORE POWER TO THEM ! ! If I am still living in California in 4 years or so when this one lapses I will probably not renew it. If I am not living in California then I will need a much larger gun safe.

why do you say that. When you are in NB (even if you flew there), you can purchase C&R firearms there. You would then just fly back to CA with them as checked and declared luggage. You don't have to drive them back to CA.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Good point. I had never even considered flying a firearm home, C&R or other wise, because I've never done it before and I also assumed it would run into major additional cost and hastle. I'm sure it would need to be in a suitable ($$$) airline approved case. I could buy one good airline case and then take it along empty on each trip just in case?
ke6guj, I'm glad you took the time to read my rant and point this out.
