    Shipping a C&R

I have a C&R firearm (rifle) that someone wants buy from me. The problem is he is in social and I am in the bay area. I have a c&r license, so my question can I send it to him via ups? Has anyone do it and if so how did you do it?

I am having a similar issue trying to get a C&R rifle from a seller in Sacramento. I do not have a C&R license. I would be very interested in the results, Fed Ex would not ship to me.

get a copy of his DL provided he doesnt have an 03 himself, and put a copy of his DL (and your 03 just to be on the safe side) in the box, declare on the shipping form that it's a firearm and you should be good to go.

I ship rifles USPS Priorty Mail, insured with delivery confirmation and have never had a problem. The rifle must also be at least 50 years old.
That being said, I would not ship any firearm without absolute proof that the person is who they claim to be. It's not worth risking your license over.

              Help me understand:

                absolute proof
That is impossible. Personally, I do my best.

Scene 1...Go through FFL/01 dealer. You don't know if it had been stolen by him or someone before he/she got there hands on it.
Scene 2...Yes and no on that one. Does the seller know you and that you are not a nut or been in jail? Then yes. Send him a copy of your drivers license. No if he does not know you.
Scene 3...Yes, as long as the buyer send you a signed copy of his FFL/03. And it will have to be shipped to the address that is on the FFL license.

And U.P.S. will do business with you. That is who I use.

Dennis, do you NOT have a FFL/03 C&R license?

Sorry but, I disagree with your first "yes". As I stated, what if it had been at one time stolen? It happend to me one time. I got it back almost 20 years later.

Going through a FFL for the transfer will not be a guarantee that the rifle is not stolen property.

That may be true but, at least it will be in the buyers name.

I am just wanting to know if the senerios are legal, Providing all parties involved can legally own and possess a firearm
Legal to ship or not legal to ship ? other things are moot

You just walk into ups with it and ship it. Should cost less then 20$ to ship and will be there the next day. There is an old thread in here that a mod posted the law and that you CAN ship a C&R + 50 years old to anyone rather they have a license or not. Of course they need to be able to legally own a rifle etc.
