No...
They came from a different stash, apparently. But they have been verified (as much as these things can be verified) as legit. You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

I love it. The thinking consumer using the free market. I agree.Wow...they look nice from the pictures, but...$580 + shipping....
For that much, I'll spend $230 for a good M91/30 with "The Boltman's" turned-down bolt and a Jmeck Weaver scope mount. Then I'll add a Redfield Revolution Accu-Range 3-9x40 for another $170. That's $400 total, with better optics.
That leaves about $200 to buy ammo or (even better) get reloading components to roll my own.
I know, collector and all, but I don't buy safe queens. I buy firearms to actually fire in their actual intended environments, in this case, out in the woods to possibly harvest a deer or other game animal for food." A Republic, if you can keep it ..... " Benjamin FranklinComment

Hi I'm new to Gunboards so please forgive the errors. Here is the story. I saw the ad for the snipers in Shotgun News and got interested so I decided to add to my Mosin collection. On 7-03 Royal Tiger sent an e-mail stating they were shipping. On 7-04 I ordered. On 7-05, to my surprise, I got a...
They look the same to me

I don't dislike any Germans enough to do that. They make great beer.

My understanding (which is subject to frequent and sudden revisions!
) is that the ATI snipers (not Royal Tiger) were from a different batch than the AIM/Royal Tiger snipers.
And by "different batch" it could be just the importer. MY ATI sniper (which is a thing of beauty IMHO) came in a funky box...

...that apparently made it's way through Germany at one point.
I have an AIM sniper on order so it will be interesting to compare them against each other!
*UPDATE* Only 90 left!!!

Man, now I can't wait to see what shows up. Refurbed originals? Commercial put togethers with original equipment? Will I even be able to tell the difference? For Sale: Off Roster Handgun Moving Sale

yup, that gun shoots that good with a good handload. takes 5 shots that will group at 1.5 to 2 moa from a clean, clean barrel, but then when it's seasoned it's pretty accurate
Next week i won't make it, reunion meetup, but i might just drop by with the missus to have a look, since it's on the way through.

They're not commercial put togethers, that's been settled. The going theory is that they were re-arsenaled by the Soviets at Tula. They were then recently repackaged at Molot for export.
Some of the batch of AIM snipers have their original scope numbers from 43/44.
Others have lined-out scope numbers with the replacement scope number stamped above or next to the old (which is correct for the 91/30).

As for the ATI snipers, they were also re-arsenaled by the Soviets and exported through Germany for whatever reason. They were packaged as "Hunting Carbines" as a way of avoiding the scrutiny that a batch of "sniper" rifles might bring. My ATI sniper has it's original scope from 1944, numbers matched to the rifle. The optics are crystal clear. Amazing!
(Dig the oil-paper still on the windage/elevation knobs!)

I'm scouring the net for pictures of what shows up.
Is there a consensus on when and where these had the refurb work done and where they have been stored since? What kind of ammo are you all planning to put through yours?
The suspense is killing me, and the wife will really kill me if I don't move out some guns to make space in the next few days. $1200 impulse buys don't always go over so well. For Sale: Off Roster Handgun Moving Sale
