    US&S 1911

I just saw this up for auction. I don't have any money to spend but thought someone here might.

    Beatle are you out there?

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I know that seller and all his stuff is primo. He knows how to deal with California and has no problem shipping here. He always does 2 week, no reserve auctions -- and the last hour gets a lot of action. I bet it goes for much more than it's current bid.

It might go to 5K, but I think that price is too high. Something feels off on this one. First of all it's been reworked (it's parkerized instead of du-lite), which brings value down significantly. Then there is the case of the unexplained letter "A" next to the US&S logo. I'm not sure what this marking is. usually arsenal rework stamps are on the slide. Finally it's not all original. Credit goes to the seller for being very clear in his pictures and description of the gun. He points out that it has a Colt MSH. Finally some of the sanding marks evident in the pictures is not what I typically see in US&S pistols. I think these marks are from when the du-lite was removed and the parkerizing applied.

In collector circles this would probably be a $1000-$1200 gun (up from $900-$1000 for a arsenal rework gun, the extra value from being a US&S).

It may indeed end up much higher than that due to gun broker, but for $5K you could get a decent all original US&S.

by the way, thanks for keeping me in mind -- Some of my best acquisitions have come from people keeping an eye out for me!

No problem. I'm not too up on the US&S but I knew you would be. If I ever see anything else of interest I will surely post it.

You're probably right, I didn't read the description or look at the photos too closely. All I saw was the US&S (aha! the Holy Grail!) didn't have time to really delve into it. Thanks for the quick "education"!

$2400. Someone is either going to be really disappointed or is just really rich. Yikes.

Yep, they just HAD to have that US&S wonder if they "really" know what they got?

Wait till there's a GB auction for a Singer. The price would be ridiculous.

                        No doubt.

This is the Singer I want. But seeing that it's @ the JMB Museum in UT and valued at over $500,000 I don't think I will be owning it any time soon or far for that mater.
