    We just recently had a discussion on "polyurethane, why bad?" in another thread. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, and even others who don't care for it have said it does make the wood look beautiful. The majority consensus was that it looks "dorky" sitting next to rifles with original finishes, and that something like re-shellacking or using tung-oil would be another option. It was also generally agreed that ultimately, "your rifle, your choice."

    Far as I'm concerned, you're preserving the wood for the future. Do you have pics of it in its current state?
