That Vetterli wasn't really for "special forces" as we use the term now. Italian short rifles are termed "truppi speciali" rifles because they were meant for technical troops whose main function wasn't as infantry--pioneer/combat engineers, artillery gunners and later machine gunners and bicycle troops. The closest they got to being issued to our kind of "special forces" was their use by "Alpini"--elite mountain units.

Italy's main small arms problems seemed to me to stem from national poverty, not the inability to innovate. And the private sector was MUCH better at innovation. SOUND FAMILIAR?

Yea, it is a revolver and, it was manufactured decades before Maxim made his first surpressors.

The only C&R firearms that can be imported by an FFL03 must be classified as a curio & relic *AND* must be a commercial (non-military) firearm only.

Sadly, all military firearms MUST be imported by a class 07 licensed importer.

Was at the Vatican Museums today. Strangely, no guns (kidding).

Have not had time to seek out a Rome gun shop but perhaps I will tomorrow, last day here is tomorrow.

Maybe it ended up in the hands of a mafia assassin

Though, those threads seem pretty coarse for a suppressor... which makes me think it was done in someone's basement/ garage... in Sicily

Don't the Swiss Guard have a museum there? Might see some fine weaponry if they do, including some pristine K31's

It's still a revolver. Surpressors do not do much good on most revolvers.
