Nice setup...must be nice long distance shooting with Burris 6-18X glass.

Norcal454SS, It can really reach out an touch someone/something with this rig. I can hit a clay pigeon at the ram line till I get bored. Don't shoot it in our vintage military silhouette match though as it's just not right to shoot a vintage rifle a powerful modern glass plus I do okay with a standard issued military iron sights. Won the AA class at Saturday's match shooting my Eddy 1917 with a 27 score.

IIRC, that cheek pad I bought from Brownell's. Works well as it aligns your eye to the scope plane.

Quick! Send me a classic scope so I can remove that tainted piece of garbage from my K31!
And yes, with some clever use of my powerful upper body, I got both M1 trigger housings closed...but dang! They are tight!

Here is my rig with a Burris 6-18X glass and one piece ring.

Just for clarification on the word classic vs vintage. The "vintage" Weaver scope was made in El Paso, Tx starting in the late 40's with highest production in the 60's-70's. The vintage is known for it's 1" steel tube quality 2.5x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x optics and made in the USA.

The "classic" is a current reproduction model that uses an aluminum tube, not sure where it is made. The classic sells new for around $150.00 and can be purchased at most scope stores. It has good reviews but, it is not the "vintage" scope from a historical perspective. The most popular and easiest to find is the vintage Weaver 4X. Jump on this if you get a chance from $60-80 depending on condition. I won a bid of $67.00 (luck, timing) for my vintage 6X on ebay, when most were selling upto $100. This is a good reference point...

              Good luck!

*After re-read you did say El Paso Weavers, so you should be OK. We'll have to get together for some shooting when you finish!

Yes, they're the vintage Weavers, not the new-production Classic line. I'm bidding on both a 3x and 4x and figure one for the K31 and the other (if I can win both for a reasonable amount; both are from same seller and around 90-95% condition) for my Mini for a classic Ranch Rifle look. Oddly enough, I was looking at the new Weaver classic 4x for the Mini and opened this thread for ideas for the K31 (the SwissProducts mount is a given) and I saw the vintage scopes. One eBay search led to another, that led to some bids, and here I am sweating out the next 1d20hrs and counting. Lol

You guys are sure getting the right scopes for the k31. You wouldn't believe some of the huge, monster sized scopes we've seen on some of them.
Fixed power as close to the bore axis as possible is exactly what the k31 likes. Zero at 50, 100 then 250 yards and go right out to 400 to 500 and you're still in the hit zone.
Fixed 4s, 6's and the rare 8's are the perfect choices, especially the older Weavers and Swifts.

I'm shooting today, zero @ 50m and 100m. I'm looking forward to shooting some Rams @ 500m! Just got back to shooting after many years, discovered military rifles and having fun with two Mosin 91/30's and my K31 (so far).

I liked shooting the K31 with irons but the thought of a scope seems to add a whole new realm to its accuracy. The fun part will be coming up next week, I'm working on basic marksmanship training for Sea Cadets and unit leaders/instructors can bring their own firearms as well for a fun factor besides the 22s the cadets use. Last year, I brought my M&P; this year? The K31 and GP11 will be coming out!! Can't wait to see what they think of it. The SP Muzzle Brake and Muzzle Damper will be tried out as well. If only I could get the scope mount and scope in time.

I am now the proud owner of both a K3 60 and a K4 60-B. Fended off some last minute bids but got them both. Next paycheck will be the SP scope mount. Poor Sea Cadets will have to learn to use irons on the K31. Lol.

DasBoost: That's great to hear! The Weaver K3 and K4 are on the approved list for the CMP Vintage Sniper Rifle Match events, so they are appropriate for the Sea Cadets shooting.

I just got back from zero sighting my K6. I was low on ammo, so I didn't get to shoot much. I used up most of my ammo finding the paper (I'm learning). The SR scope mount worked out well as there is sufficient clearance for loading with the chargers (I use the magazine mostly), the cartridge ejection did not hit the scope as the casing ejected up and to the left. The scope offset did not bother me and I was able to adjust the eye relief to get a good sight. The neat part was shooting through open sights and then quickly moving to the scope view. I really like this setup. I now plan to get a K4 scope to stay in the Vintage Sniper Rifle Match rules.

This is my 50 yard zero sighting target with last two shots after final adjustments, before I ran out of ammo. I can easily hit the bulls eye (open sights or scope). I'll be going back to shoot 100 and 200 yard! Funny...my neighbor bench shot my target with a .117 cal. What a small hole in comparison to the 7.55.

@NorCal454SS: Even better to know! The Sea Cadets thing, for my part, is somewhat informal; I'm an extra body and set of eyes to make sure everything's safe and maybe even pass some knowledge along. It's cool to be able to pass it along to the next generation.

                              @Latigo: Replied.
