    It looks like the serial # is in the 1,000,000 + range so he should be in the clear.

        High enough serial # and barrel is 8/44 four-groove, bright & sharp.

            Nice! I love 1903s almost as much as 1917s

            Now you need to shoot it at the next silhouette match as I might shoot one of my RA 1903 or my VAR barreled Winchester Garand.

              Looks good. I can't read the serial number, but Remington didn't make 03 receivers in 1919, would have to be Springfield or Rock Island. The barrel makes it a WW2 rebuild. There is probably a rebuild stamp on the stock somewhere.

              Does your camera have a macro setting? Usually it's a flower symbol and will help with the close ups.
