I know you all mean well. I had an Uncle Bill and I got his m1917. But this thread is mildly reminiscent of buzzards sitting on a wire by the road waiting for something to get creamed so they can eat.

But that split window does get one to drooling...

If you can't take the "cheesecloth" off the gun, doesn't that almost defeat the point in having a rifle?

Got a call from a friend who had a friend who inherited a guys old WWII Colt .45 that he wanted $200 for and they knew I was a gun guy and would appreciate it, love it and take care of it properly, well yes, yes I would!!

Turned out to be an early S&W 59 all chromed out.

Some of the handguns, all the rest of my pics are on another hard drive, KaemosFiveZero is going to give me some help to salvage the pic files off of it.

For those of you too young to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis, this is my Uncle Bill and his aircrew, standing in front of his B-47, loaded with a nuke for a one way trip to Moscow. They were standing there waiting for the call from JFK.
His first flight was in a Steerman biplane, his last when he retire as a Colonel, was in a B-52.

I know you meant no harm by it, but it isn't like that with me. I'm as close to my uncle as I am my dad, I would trade it all and more in a heartbeat, to keep him around for awhile more.

                          Uncle Bill's Rifle

All-Remington and receiver made about 1919 according to log I found; barrel replaced 1944.

Stock is straight style and is not a great fit to the action. Front barrel band loose. Bore bright and clear (my camera sucks...or the photographer! Or the pain meds aren't helping either focus.)

Beauty is as beauty does -- I will get it out to the range and see what it does.

Sights are nice -- smooth and tight. Just have to go out and see how it shoots!

Looks nice! If the SN is less than 800000 I wouldn't shoot it as they aren't considered safe.

That looks pretty minty, what's the barrel date stamp? 2 or 4 groove?
