I didn't forget. Did you, I recall a thread you started about "pimp shining" your Garand wth BLO... Which is totally inappropriate.

And yet, in your ignorance you claim a museum grade restoration is a "pimp shine."

Day drinking, are we? Once again - Please point out where I offered a valuation assessment, or an opinion on rarity. You stated up-thread that I presented my self as a "value expert". Please cite where I did so.

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Split hairs all you can bud. You failed to recognize a museum grade restoration, and you called it a "pimp shine."

And admittedly you did a substandard pimp shine on your rifle

And, when you are able, go consult a dictionary on the two verbs:

          Infer
          Imply

          Pimp shine yurazz

I'm really at a loss to understand the insults and vitriol, over such a trivial thing. You have been abrasive, insulting, and boorish from the jump. It seems you are incapable of civilized discourse. Are you this bitter and angry in real life, or is it just your internet shtick? Honest question.

Now, once again, as you seem to lack reading comprehension and keep straying off into the weeds:

Please point out where I offered a valuation assessment, or an opinion on rarity. You stated up-thread that I presented my self as a "value expert". Please cite where I did so.

Take your time, read the sentence carefully, and choose the appropriate words. I have the truck packed and will be spending the weekend on the river to fish and camp, so I won't be able to enjoy your latest rant until sometime Monday.
            Have a good weekend!

For a "not unique", "not unusual", common lowly plentiful BMR Garand.....yeah.

              Ha!
I'm with Dennis on this one, and absolutely think that $2,925 was sorely inflated, either due to inexperienced bidders, the irrational competition such auctions can cultivate, a couple of spendthrifts simply inftatuated with that particular gun, or the appearances of 'unique' due to connotation of a buyer's lack of awareness catching them off guard.

The definition of 'unique' even by the 'un' part of that word means: "being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else." So it's highly incorrect to call the example in question 'unique'. For that matter, I have a couple of truly unique guns in my collection, i.e., the only known specimen to exist.

I have 2 Bredas in my sizable Garand collection. I would not call them unique.

I typically do not have any interest or ever bid on refinished guns no matter how well they are done, even if it's a Turnbull masterpiece and rare. I just don't care. I'll take a 20% grade original finish over a hard to determine if redone refinish any day of the same specimen of a certain model.

And yet, I did watch this particular auction as an intriguing variant to see where it would land, but would not have bid anywhere above $1,800 for it, even if I really had a void in my collection to fill or was enamored by the excellent refinish.

Because as far as actual value? I'd place it around $1,600 to $1,800 max even with today's accelerating inflationary influence on Garand pricing and only because that refinish appears to be so well done. I'm sure it floats someone's boat which is worth the uptick, but not appealing to me.

It's not unheard of for LSB's auctions to fetch irrational final bids. Look no further of an example of that than the Sterling 287 PPL that sold in one of their Gunbroker auctions for $5,725 a few years ago - which though it was in excellent condition, did not come with its original box or papetwork, making it at most an $800 - $900 gun. (For that matter, I have one, in nearly the same condition, that I only paid $650 for several months AFTER this example sold.) At the time that example sold at that $5,725 price, you would regularly see these selling online from $400 to $700 and no higher. There was no justification for that closing price on that Sterling whatsoever. Just plain lunacy.

As for Dennis - you are not going to find too many people with a more reputable, accurate, and experienced valuation advice on any particular C&R gun than the one he would freely provide.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I have also bought from Dennis and learned a large amount from him. I have been using his corrosive cleaning style for well over a decade now : ) easy and works. Sofbak must be a true C&R badass here. : ) Can I get link to your C&R sales?
