Garand Grease?

Im trying to find a good cheap grease for my garand, (and other guns) I just picked up a tub of Valvoline Automotive and Industrial General Multi-purpose grease ( NLGI #2 Grade Lithium EP grease) this is fine right? I saw some of the synthetic ones but some didnt have lithium, and they had moly in it and i've heard moly isnt that great for use in firearms.. dunno if thats true or not.

Yup will work just fine can also use bearing grease. I don`t know about using it for other firearms but works good for Garands.

It fine, probably better than the stuff they used 70 years ago.

Many recommend Mobil 1 Synthetic for Garands. Its' got what you are looking for.

I use red moly. I'll take better lubricating properties over appearance any day...

So moly is ok? I just stuck with the plain non-synthetic lithium stuff. This is my first time using non-firearm labeled grease on my guns so I was not sure.

Any wheel bearing grease is overkill for the Garand
If it protects wheel bearings its more than adequate for the Garand

As per the Garand service manual, the only time you do not use grease is in the arctic.
