I am gonna be getting my C&R license soon. I am planning on taking a fieldtrip to AZ for JG Sales and possible a gunshow. Does anybody have experience buying at a AZ gunshow with a C&R license from a CA resident?

BUYING C&R GUNS AT A ARIZONA GUNSHOWS

I do not.
But if you set up your C&R with J&G before you go that will help.
Why you ask?
J&G Sales usually sets up at the Cross Roads of the West show in Phoenix. If you find a C&R somewhere other than J&G's booth and they are giving you grief you could ask them if they would be willing to talk to the guys over at J&G about the deal.
The guys at J&G are really good and would probably help you get what you're looking for.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Before you go check out Backpage.com
For Arizona Backpage lists a lot of gun including C & R's for private sale. Prices seem to be good also compared to CA.
You might need to do a little persuasive work on the phone to accept your 03 license, but many private sellers in CA do not understand that C &R is cash and carry when buying within your state.
If you find something you like arrange to have them meet you at J&G to verify you 03 is valid for out of state purchase, and give them the option to do FFL transfer to get them there.

My understanding of AZ law is that face to face PPT is pretty much unregulated. Having said that I doubt you will have any problem with used C&R guns. Importing said guns back into CA is why you need the C&R.
Report back though, as this is something I may do when my 03FFL shows up (hopefully in next couple weeks).Comment

Gunner I just want to make sure we keep everyone on the same page because your statement as written could confuse some.My understanding of AZ law is that face to face PPT is pretty much unregulated. In AZ and most other free states "face to face PPT is/are pretty much unregulated" is true if both buyer and seller are residents of the same state.
Federal law mandates that if they are residents of different states then the transaction must be completed by an FFL in the state of the buyer. In the case of C&R firearms that could be the buyer themselves with an 03 C&R FFL. If the firearm is not a C&R it must be transferred by a dealer in the buyer's home state.
I don't want people thinking that they can go to AZ or any other state for that matter and buy guns from a private party. To give you and everyone else more on this Librarian did a real nice thread on this http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=503873Last edited by morrcarr67; 05-04-2012, 6:32 AM.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Thank you for clarifying. I took a few things for granted. Yes all federal law relating to transfer still apply. AZ doesn't pile much if anything on top of those.Comment

I've bought from J&G several times by mail and in person. Great service every time from them. I bought a Mosin M38 from a private person with no hassles too. We both had 03 FFL'sLASD Retired

I've bought several C&R's at the big Crossroads show in December, 2009...both rifles and pistols. No problems at all. I have an 03.
And several from J&G through the mail. You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

+1 for J&G I walked in last summer an walked out with 4 handguns 30 minutes later. I'm going to make this a yearly trip. I'll probably head down there in August. A lot of people recommend mailing your license a few weeks in advance to speed up the process if you plan to head down there. When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
