    Planning a trip for CRs

Well it looks like I may have a week to two week vacation coming up in June/July and I was debating going on a drive out of state to get some CR guns. Should I go to Reno or drive to Arizona to JG Sales?

Good luck with this thread I asked a similar question when I was going to Washington state and got no help. If you make the trip to AZ all I ask is you leave something for me I will be their in August.

JG is a long damn way. If you know what you want, you can order it and have it delivered to Timber Outdoors in Reno.

Reno is less than ~4 hours away from you.

Been to J&G--smallish showroom with, basaically, one example of each of the C&R items in their ad out on display. Very freindly staff, and I did see two instances where the staff brought out several examples of a C&R a buyer was interested in so he could pick the best condition one -- nice. In Prescott and adjacent Prescott Valley there are numerous gun shops--a couple of exellent ones, and all very friendly. So J&G would be just one stop on a weekend trip/stay.

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

              Google foo is your friend.

Where ever you go google guns, pawn, sporting goods, etc. Call and ask if they have any old guns. Don't ask for "C&R" guns because some dealers think all you are looking for is cheap surplus firearms. Make a list of what dealers have old guns and go visit them.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

J&G all the way. Not much in Reno as far as C&R goes. If you do the trip to Prescott, stop by Batterman's auction on Gurley Street. Lots of great C&R goodies there. It's a store, but they do have auctions too.

Hmm. May have to run down south. Should be able to make it there and back in 3 days I would imagine.

Time it for a local gun show if you can.

I hit a Reno show once- it's great for cowboy stuff, less so for military C&Rs.

The Phoenix shows are good for military C&Rs, though I'd usually go to the big SAR show in December.

My warning though- it's been years since I bought anything at any show. Prices are up and selection is down.

I recommend going to J&G and making a real trip out of it...go to the Grand Canyon, or Sedona, or Flagstaff. Or if you really want to get scorched, Phoenix.

I've never seen the Grand Canyon, or really anything outside of CA for that matter. That would make for a fun adventure.
