    John M Browning Museum

A couple of weeks ago I delivered a truck to Riverton, WY. On my way home I decided to make a little side trip up to Ogden, UT to visit the John M. Browning Museum.

There are a ton of guns there to be seen but not too much info on JMB or his guns and company. There isn't even any books on him or his company in the gift shop.

I did snap some pictures of a few of the guns that caught my eye.

This is the building that houses this and 3 other museums

One of the very first guns you will see is this 1894

The guy working the museum told me that this is the VERY FIRST EVER 1894 and is worth in the neighborhood of $500K
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

And, now on to some of the guns that most people think of when they think of JMB

Look @ that second one. Remind you of anything? Maybe a Tokarov TT33? Looks like the Russians got their hands on one before they made the TT.

This is the very first gun built that would be come the gun we know as the 1911. Notice there is no thumb safety. The Army wanted one so JMB added it to what would be the 1911 you and I have and love.

I really have got to figure out a reason to go to Ogden ...
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I read somewhere that Colt sometimes bought a gun (rifle OR pistol), or the rights to it, just to keep others from getting their hands on Browning's designs. Probably a smart idea.

From what the guy told me Colt and Winchester had a Gentleman's agreement. Colt would only build handguns and Winchester will only build long guns. And, I bet they both did that.
