I still have the stock it came with but the rest of it was like new so I sprung for new wood. There was only one stamp on the stock, a P on the underside. There were no marks in the parkerizing inside or out, no wear marks on the bolt, and the OP rod was squeaky clean until I put the first clip through it which is why I don't think anyone fired it between the time it was built (or rebuilt) to the time I got it. She's a shooter and a pretty good one at that but not really a collector piece.

A lot of people say the service grade H&Rs from the CMP are in pretty good shape, If I were to get another one, that's the route I would go. Thats half of what I paid for mine and parts are available to make it really nice if anything is questionable.Comment

Quite possibly you did get one fresh from storage after rebuild, I scored an HRA and a SA in the same condition. The gas piston was shiney and the MW & TE are less than 1. Congrats on a nice rifle and all Garands are a "collector" and a shooter to a degree.I still have the stock it came with but the rest of it was like new so I sprung for new wood.
