Its a Brazilian model 1908, large ring 7mm. My dad bought it before I was born, all the numbers match, stock, receiver, bolt, floor plate, its not factory new by any means but its in surprisingly good shape for its age.

Funny you say that; the closest thing I have to an SLR is my K-31. I have 5 guns, and all of them have bolts.
I'm jonesing for an AR-15, so maybe this will change. The sad/funny part is that I already know the AR won't be as cool to shoot as a K-31, Lee-Enfield, or MAuser or Mosin.sigpic

There are tons of ARs out there and they won't be going anywhere anytime soon so don't worry, there is just something about C&R rifles that makes me happy. The M1a in the pics is a CA legal national match that I bought brand new, it shoots sub MOA with mild reloads or match ammo on a bad day but I enjoy the Garand more for some reason. I was truly blessed to get that H&R/LMR.Funny you say that; the closest thing I have to an SLR is my K-31. I have 5 guns, and all of them have bolts.

I think I have secured a K-31 from a very gracious forum member, should have it in a month or so and I can't wait. After shooting a friend's I need one.Comment

I remember being at Pony Express in Van Nuys Years and Years ago. On the rack was an FN49 in 30-06, I never should have passed it up but at that age, all we were interested in was feeding the SKS and the Mini14. I also remember National Guns in Reseda had a whole rack of Swedish Mausers for something stupid like $139 each, long or short. I've never bought a C&R that I regretted, its history.Comment

The M-1 Garand is by far the most satisfying self loader there is to shoot. The SVT-40 comes in at second. Big103 let me try his original M-1 Carbine, and that was pretty fun too--I was amazed at the lack of recoil.sigpic
